As usual, Live Music Blog is on top of all of the festival news…

Summercamp gears up for 2007 with its familiar line-up (yep, moe. as the headliner)

Gathering of the Vibes has its line-up and has re-located back to its original spot in Bridgeport, CT

Justin also speculated about Bonnaroo headliners, with Pearl Jam as is prediction for a possible big headliner

Hits from the Blog has at least one band confirmed for Bonnaroo: Cold War Kids (by the way, I literally just checked out a fantastic set by Cold War Kids over at NPR’s Live Concert Series)

And the wikipedia entry for Bonnaroo also has John Butler Trio confirmed as well

As long as we’re throwing out random speculation for Bonnaroo headliners, how about something more European and off-kilter as a follow-up to Radiohead….the Cure?

And in case you missed our previous festival news, we’ve also discussed info on Bonnaroo, 10KLF, Langerado, and Coachella.

Can you tell we’re already sick of the cold weather and indoor shows!?!?

I’ve mentioned the Slip several times on this site. They just recently finished a run through the Midwest, opening for My Morning Jacket (mentioned in my last post). They were also named the “December Artist to Watch” on Philly’s WXPN and will be streaming live from the Electric Factory today at 12pm CT. Fortuntately, the performance will be archived at NPR’s Music site for future listens. Check it out and definitely consider buying their new album (which is also now available on Emusic).

Their new disc, called Eisenhower, was released on Bar/None Records and is an album I’m taking my time to take in. I’ve been digging the two tunes they released for promo for a few months now (“Even Rats” and “Children of December”). But overall, it’s a wonderful disc, with some interesting textures and solid songwriting beyond these two powerhouse tracks. One thing’s for sure, this disc is definitely a big way for the Slip to say, “We’re no longer just some New England jamband.” They may still stretch out some of their songs and do some improv, but the Slip are continuing to combine cool sounds and textures with powerful songwriting.

Wilco’s frontman Jeff Tweedy reacted with a punch to the face to an overly-zealous fan when the guy surprised him onstage at a recent show (and apparently tried to plant him a kiss). Clearly, Tweedy felt bad about his reaction and later apologized to the crowd, but the story and a video of the incident is making the rounds. LiveMusicBlog initially covered the incident here and Pitchfork now has the videos posted.

This serves as a reminder to you crazy fans…”stay down there.” It also serves as a nice way to remind you of my earlier post about tonight’s Wilco show at the 9:30 Club being available for live streaming on NPRs Live Music Series at 9 PM CT.

Should be a great show, and I doubt there will be any further disruptions from fans running onstage unless, of course, they’re looking for a fight. Go get ‘em Jeff!

Well done NPR, well done.

LMM last caught Wilco at Lollapalooza this August for a solid set of some of their classics and a few new tunes. But since then, I’ve been jonesin’ for more than a short festival slot. They’ll be ending their current tour with two hometown shows at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, so LMM is hoping to grab some of those pre-sale tix when they are released Wednesday, 10/18 at 10AM CT.

Wilco’s next album doesn’t come out until the spring, but frontman Jeff Tweedy’s got a solo DVD release, called “Sunken Treasure: Live in the Pacific Northwest,” that comes out on 10/24. There’s also a nice YouTube clip making the rounds, with Tweedy performing a “great sing-along” song called “The Thanks I Get”…great song, check it:

Man, I may have to check out the 9:30 Club’s schedule to see what else might be in store for future Live Series streams. Even if the Yeah Yeah Yeahs aren’t really your thing (though they’re certainly getting plenty of recognition in the Indie world), there are a bunch of other shows archived for your streaming pleasure, including performances by:

Belle and Sebastian, Calexico, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Death Cab for Cutie, Iron and Wine, My Morning Jacket, New Pornographers, Secret Machines, Sigur Ros, Son Volt, and the White Stripes.

Rock your Indie heart out…here’s their main page. But has the Internet buzz machine overreacted with its incessant hype? Some folks in the blogosphere and the mainstream press are beginning to suggest that they’ve possibly crossed the threshold.

Luckily, NPR’s Live Concert Series continues to offer up the goods, bringing us the Arctic Monkeys live in concert at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. Check it out and decide for yourself if all the talk is worthwhile underground buzz or over-zealous Internet hype.
