As usual, Live Music Blog is on top of all of the festival news…

Summercamp gears up for 2007 with its familiar line-up (yep, moe. as the headliner)

Gathering of the Vibes has its line-up and has re-located back to its original spot in Bridgeport, CT

Justin also speculated about Bonnaroo headliners, with Pearl Jam as is prediction for a possible big headliner

Hits from the Blog has at least one band confirmed for Bonnaroo: Cold War Kids (by the way, I literally just checked out a fantastic set by Cold War Kids over at NPR’s Live Concert Series)

And the wikipedia entry for Bonnaroo also has John Butler Trio confirmed as well

As long as we’re throwing out random speculation for Bonnaroo headliners, how about something more European and off-kilter as a follow-up to Radiohead….the Cure?

And in case you missed our previous festival news, we’ve also discussed info on Bonnaroo, 10KLF, Langerado, and Coachella.

Can you tell we’re already sick of the cold weather and indoor shows!?!?

The Wakarusa music festival has announced its initial artist line-up.

As previously reported, the festival will take place on June 7-10th in Lawrence, KS. The following acts are slated to play so far:

Widespread Panic
Yonder Mountain String Band
North Mississippi Allstars
Alejandro Escovedo
The Mutaytor
Railroad Earth
Tea Leaf Green
The Slip
Little Feat
New Mastersounds
Perpetual Groove
ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra)

…and plenty more to be announced later.

Cool to see the Slip hitting up the summer festival circuit (they’ve been getting a lot of press, including many mentions here on LMM). The only other “surprise” is Alejandro Escovedo, a bit of a departure from the jam-friendly fare. Then again, I expect we’ll see some more artists additions that are more closely associated with indie rock and folk than the jamband set, as has happened with other festivals like Vegoose, Bonnaroo, and Langerado. We’ll keep an eye out for more announcements.

Wakarusa set its 2007 dates: June 7-10th, 2007 (in Lawrence KS) – photo by tyler >

It’ll be interesting to see if they stick with the jammier set, or make inroads into Indie rock territory, as Langerado and Bonnaroo have tended to do in recent years. Speaking of Bonnaroo..

Bonnaroo also laid down its 2007 dates: June 14 – 17, 2007 (in Manchester, TN)

For fans confident that the festival and line-up will live up to its reputation, early-bird tickets go on sale Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM (ET?)….but that’s before any artists have been announced. We’ll see what tricks the SuperFly folks have up their sleeves this year. Will they continue the festival’s more mainstream trend or head back to the hippie/jammy roots?

10K Lakes Festival announced its initial line-up.

As usual, lots of stalwarts of the jammier variety:

Bob Weir & RatDog
Trey Anastasio
Gov’t Mule
Umphrey’s McGee
moe.
Little Feat
Derek Trucks Band
Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk
Trampled By Turtles
WookieFoot
Everyone Orchestra

…with another 50 odd bands yet TBA

As much as this type of line-up bores me with its focus on jam-rock and blues/funk, it would still be damn fun to see some sort of ultimate guitar wank-fest with the likes of Trey, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, and maybe some of the Umphrey’s or moe. guys. Also, kudos to Wookiefoot for the tongue-in-cheek dig on the hippy lingo…that name just cracks me up.

And just in case you missed it:

Coachella expanded to a 3-day festival and added a country-tinged festival

Langerado‘s line-up and late-night shows are set. This one is gearing up to be a great spring festival.

Looks like my initial reaction that this festival had gone straight back to its jamband roots was a bit premature. Good to see them continuing to branch out, but will the “indie kids” take the bait? We’ll see.

Tickets go on-sale this Friday, 12/1 at 10am EST at Langerado’s site.

Looks like Lollapalooza‘s following up a great festival with some live downloads for sale. Got an email a bit ago saying some concert recordings are now availble (via iTunes) from the following artists:

I’m a bit bummed they went with iTunes instead of eMusic (or another download service that doesn’t use DRM), but I can live with it. One big thumbs up is that they’ll be offering downloads in both MP3 and the lossless FLAC format (for all you picky audiophiles out there).

Now, exactly which shows to grab is going to be a tough one. I can’t wait to hear that whole Broken Social Scene set, but I’d love to get down to that Disco Biscuits’ closer (“Caterpillar”), and then again I really dug Andrew Bird’s sound….Hmmm.

I’ve been having some issues getting any new postings up on the main page, but it looks like that the bug is finally fixed. So why not post some festival news:

The Vegoose festival has announced this year’s line-up, and it looks like Superfly is continuing the festival trend of mixing several big rock acts with a variety of mid-size bands of the jam and indie set, sprinkled with some classic hip-hop. With the success of Langerado this past spring and Bonnaroo this summer, Vegoose is clearly hoping this type of mix bodes well for ticket sales. We’ll see how the jam kids and indie rock folks mix it up in Vegas, but LMM’s take is that it’s a pretty decent line-up…

Here’s the list so far (late-night shows are posted below):
