But if so, keep in mind the many tapers out there who recorded those NYE concerts. LiveMusicBlog’s got a nice round-up of some NYE torrents and downloads.
Plus, several taper-friendly bands now have NYE shows on the Live Music Archive too, which, if you remember, gives you the added benefit of streaming the show before you download it.
Here are some of the NYE shows available on the LMA:
Derek Trucks Band (including a slew of great covers like the Band’s “The Weight,” Sly Stone’s “I Want To Take You Higher,” and Derek & the Dominoes’ “Key to the Highway”)
Disco Biscuits* (w/ covers of the Beastie Boys’ “Paul Revere” and “See Me Feel Me” by the Who)
My Morning Jacket (via Sirius broadcast)
Tea Leaf Green (including set II with the Brakes)
Perpetual Groove (including a rockin “Bulls on Parade” encore and a groovy cover of the theme from the “Life Aquatic”)
And a few more torrents/DLs:
Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade
…and there certainly more to come, so we’ll keep an eye out.
Also, as Justin points out, both Jambands.com and the Hidden Track have done a solid job giving a run-down of just what went down on NYE this year. Check it.
So how was your NYE? Was live music part of the program? Did you keep it mellow or get messy and make a fool of yourself?
