The Wakarusa music festival has announced its initial artist line-up.
As previously reported, the festival will take place on June 7-10th in Lawrence, KS. The following acts are slated to play so far:
Widespread Panic
Yonder Mountain String Band
North Mississippi Allstars
Alejandro Escovedo
The Mutaytor
Railroad Earth
Tea Leaf Green
The Slip
Little Feat
New Mastersounds
Perpetual Groove
ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra)
…and plenty more to be announced later.
Cool to see the Slip hitting up the summer festival circuit (they’ve been getting a lot of press, including many mentions here on LMM). The only other “surprise” is Alejandro Escovedo, a bit of a departure from the jam-friendly fare. Then again, I expect we’ll see some more artists additions that are more closely associated with indie rock and folk than the jamband set, as has happened with other festivals like Vegoose, Bonnaroo, and Langerado. We’ll keep an eye out for more announcements.

After last year’s shenanigans, I heard Anne Frank will also be at this year’s Wakarusa.
