Lately I’ve been diggin’ Beck’s newest album the Information, and highly recommend it to anyone who’s generally into Beck’s trademark (but ever-evolving) sound. It’s a nice mix of all of his past albums (it’s a less humorous take on the electro-funk pastiche of Midnight Vultures, but keeps some of the more mellow vocal-centered tracks like those on Sea Change, and has a lot more depth and emotion than his previous album, Guero).
So, my Friday YouTubing post is his latest video for the uber-funky “Cell Phones Dead.” Unlike some of the low-budget home music videos Beck apparently released along with the Information, this one is professionally produced and just damn cool. I can’t decide if I’m strangely intrigued or a bit frightened, but either way, it’s one of my fav tracks off his latest release:
