The Arctic Monkeys are the latest sensation in the online Indie buzz machine, with the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history, “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.” Seemingly blowing up the charts overnight, much of their success has been due to word-of-mouth buzz generated through the MySpace.com’s and Internet zones of Indie cred. But has the Internet buzz machine overreacted with its incessant hype? Some folks in the blogosphere and the mainstream press are beginning to suggest that they’ve possibly crossed the threshold.

Luckily, NPR’s Live Concert Series continues to offer up the goods, bringing us the Arctic Monkeys live in concert at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. Check it out and decide for yourself if all the talk is worthwhile underground buzz or over-zealous Internet hype.
